Assyrian Scripts

Assyrian is a cursive script where some, but not all, letters connect within a word.

Letters are written and read from right to left.

Each letter should be written at the top, right-hand, of the line.

All letters are affixed to the preceding and succeeding letter,
except the lette
rs in red ܐ  ܕ  ܗ  ܘ  ܙ  ܒܟ ܡ   ـܢ ܨ  ܬ

These are only affixed to the preceding letter

The letters in red ܓ  ܙ  ܛ  ـ‍ܟ  ܟ  ܡ  ܢ  ـ‍ܢ  ܨ
are written above and below the line
.

These letters are only written at the end of the word.

Estrangelo Script

There are two scripts in the Assyrian language, mainly Estrangelo and Simple Letters.
The Estrangelo script is the oldest form of writing.  It was used in manuscripts and ornate codices.
Now it is only used for headings of documents, chapters, titles of books, etc.
There are no capital letters in Assyrian, and the Estrangelo letters are not used for that purpose.
